Hope for the City’s Response to the Devastation in the Philippines
St. Louis Park, MN – Following the devastation in the Philippines caused by Typhoon Haiyan, Hope for the City (HFTC) is partnering with the Philippine-Minnesotan Medical Association (PMMA) to send relief supplies to the areas most affected by this disaster. HFTC and the PMMA have a long-standing relationship that sends medical supplies and life saving equipment to the clinics and hospitals in the Philippines.
In addition to the already scheduled shipments of medical supplies frequently sent to the Philippines, we are sending shelf stable food. “In extreme situations, such as a natural disaster, we must act swiftly and work together to ensure our global brothers and sisters in the Philippines have food and water to sustain lives. HFTC is immediately shipping 272,000 meals to assist the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan,” said Quenton Marty, Executive Development Officer at HFTC.
Hope for the City is designating all funds raised through Minnesota’s “Give to the Max Day” on November 14, 2013 to support these relief efforts and offer aid to the people dealing with the aftermath of this disaster. It is through our partners who already have a presence in the Philippines that we are able to make the greatest impact.
In addition to food, HFTC is organizing a drive for disaster relief items to ship to the victims in the Philippines. We are asking that people collect new and unused t-shirts, socks and underwear (infant through adult) and personal care items. We are also collecting new and used blankets. Drop your items off at Hope for the City on Monday, November 18 through Friday, November 22 from 8 am – 3 pm or Saturday, November 23 from 9 am to noon.

Hope for the City is a 501(c)3 organization started in 2000 by Megan and Dennis Doyle.
The mission is to serve those next door and around the world by providing material aid to organizations serving those in need.
